Conveniently located to serve the areas of Miami and South Florida
Sculptra is an injectable cosmetic that is used to add volume beneath the skin. Unlike other dermal fillers, it is a bio stimulatory filler, meaning that it uses the body’s natural processes to add dimension to soft tissue. It promotes collagen production in the skin, replenishing volume and contours to create a more youthful appearance. Unlike wrinkle fillers, Sculptra does not simply fill in wrinkles but stimulates the body’s collagen production to restore volume loss. An aging face often exhibits a loss of fullness in the cheeks, temples, and area around the mouth. Additionally, there may be a decrease in fat under the eyes, creating a hollow appearance. Sculptra can address these issues by replenishing lost volume and contours, restoring the face’s natural fullness, and eliminating the shadows and hollows that can make a person look older. It can also be used to smooth and augment other parts of the body, like the buttocks. It is a safe, non-invasive treatment that provides natural-looking results lasting up to two years. Sculptra is a great option for those who want to address the signs of aging without undergoing surgery or receiving injectable fillers that may look unnatural. With Sculptra, you can achieve a more youthful, refreshed appearance while maintaining your natural look.

What is Sculptra?
Sculptra is a volumizer, not a wrinkle filler. It restores the natural volume loss that occurs with aging, which is responsible for the appearance of wrinkles. A youthful face has fullness and roundness in the cheeks, under the eyes, lips, and around the mouth, which allows light to reflect with minimal shadow; this is why a facelift alone may not be sufficient to create the youthful look you desire.
Sculptra replenishes volume loss in the skin, reversing the formation of shadows and restoring a youthful, vibrant, and energetic appearance. Unlike facelift surgery, which removes excess skin to some degree and lessens the shadow effect, Sculptra’s volume replacement fills the skin by stimulating the body’s collagen production. This can reduce the appearance of crepey, thin skin, and visible veins and tendons in the hands. It can also be used to make cellulite dimples less prominent!
The microscopic particles in Sculptra promote collagen formation around the injection site, lifting the skin naturally without using a scalpel or sutures. It is important to note that while a facelift can help to remove excess skin, it will not restore volume in the way Sculptra does. Restoring volume is crucial in achieving a youthful face.
What is Sculptra Made Of?
Poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the main ingredient in Sculptra, is a synthetic, biodegradable polymer that has been widely used for various medical applications for many years. These include resorbable sutures, intra-bone implants, and soft tissue implants. Injectable PLLA has gained popularity as a treatment for facial changes associated with aging in the United States and Europe. [1]
Sculptra is an FDA-approved treatment that can correct shallow to deep facial wrinkles and folds. It’s a safe and effective way to restore volume loss and achieve a youthful, refreshed appearance. Sculptra is broken down by the body over time, but the results last up to two years.
Benefits
Sculptra can address the signs of volume loss in an aging face, but the benefits don’t stop there. Take a look at the other areas that can experience dramatic improvements when injected with Sculptra:
- Abdomen – A study of women under 50 who received 1 to 3 Sculptra treatments showed long-lasting visible improvement in skin quality and texture, abdominal laxity, and contour more than 12 months after the treatment, with a high level of patient satisfaction. [2]
- Buttocks – PLLA, the main ingredient in Sculptra, has been increasingly used for non-facial applications such as gluteal augmentation and to correct contour irregularities. According to a recent survey, the use of PLLA for gluteal augmentation is a new and innovative application, being the first off-facial use of the product. [3]
- Neck & Chest – Studies have shown that PLLA works well on the neck and chest. 95% of patients were satisfied with the results of Sculptra treatment on the neck, with the benefits lasting up to 30 months. [4]
Patients can also see the benefit of Sculptra injections in their thighs, upper arms, and hands making this an incredible tool in the fight against volume loss body-wide. Furthermore, patients can benefit from things like no downtime and lower costs and risks than surgery.
Candidates for Sculptra
Sculptra is suitable for people with mild to moderate signs of aging who want a non-surgical treatment to restore volume and contours to the face and body. Sculptra is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding people, those with a history of keloid scarring, or those who have a history of severe allergies or are on blood thinning medication. It is always best to consult a qualified medical professional such as a plastic surgeon, to determine if Sculptra is the right option for you.
Sculptra is one of the best non-surgical options to restore volume loss and achieve a youthful, refreshed appearance. Find out if it’s right for you by calling (305) 539-7083 today!

Preparation
Inform Dr. Rotemberg of any medications you are taking, including herbal supplements, as they may interact with Sculptra. Patients are advised to avoid alcohol and blood thinners such as aspirin, ibuprofen, and fish oil supplements as they may increase the risk of bleeding and bruising.
You should also avoid sun exposure before and after treatment as it may increase the risk of side effects such as hyperpigmentation. And while you will be able to drive yourself home after your appointment, you may want to have a friend join you!
The only other thing you need to do to prepare for treatment is to let us know if you have any questions. We are here to help you feel as comfortable as possible before, during, and after your appointment.
Procedure
Sculptra is injected into the areas of the face (or body) that need to be volumized, such as the:
- Temples
- Cheeks
- Chin
- Jawline
- Hands
Local anesthesia is used to minimize discomfort during the treatment. Each treatment session typically consists of a few injections in the target areas. Dr. Rotemberg will carefully inject small amounts of Sculptra in a thread-like pattern to create a framework beneath the skin. After the injections, she will gently massage the area to ensure that the Sculptra is distributed evenly and to achieve optimal aesthetic results. It is important to note that the procedure is done by a qualified and experienced professional such as Dr. Rotemberg to achieve the best results.
The procedure is relatively quick, and the discomfort is minimal. Before you know it, your appointment is over, and you’ll be on your way!
Recovery
As with all injections, Sculptra can cause temporary side effects such as swelling and bruising. However, no recovery or “downtime” period is required after the procedure. Other potential risks include the development of small, but usually not visible, nodules, or bumps under the skin, which typically resolve on their own over weeks to months.
Dr. Rotemberg will explain all the possible side effects, risks, and benefits of the treatment before the procedure and will be able to answer all your questions.
Results
Initially, the treatment area may appear plumper due to the product and the swelling. Sculptra encourages your body to produce more collagen, a protein that helps give your skin structure and volume. As a result, it’s difficult to say exactly how long it will take to see real results. However, most patients typically notice an improvement within a few weeks. As collagen production is stimulated, the results will gradually become more visible. Still, once the swelling subsides and the injected solution is absorbed, the appearance will return to how it was before the injections.
Patients can see volumized contours in the face and body with Sculptra injections lasting up to two years!
Corresponding & Complementary Procedures
Sculptra Aesthetic is not the best option for treating superficial lines, but it can effectively improve deep wrinkles in certain areas of the face. For superficial lines, Dr. Rotemberg offers other options like Restylane, a dermal filler specifically designed to target and smooth out fine lines and wrinkles. It is injected directly into the skin, filling wrinkles and restoring a youthful appearance. Dr. Rotemberg will recommend the best treatment option based on the individual’s needs and the stage of the wrinkles and lines.
